How to assemble your very first Paper Shoot Camera?

To assemble your Paper Shoot camera, follow these steps:

1. Insert MicroSD Card: Place the microSD card into the adapter. Please note that only a standard SD size is compatible with our camera. Do not insert a microSD card directly into our camera.

2. Prepare Batteries: Arrange your rechargeable batteries in the correct orientation, typically marked with symbols like "− + − +"

3. Insert SD Card and Batteries: Place the SD card into the big silver slot located at the front of the camera board. Then, insert the batteries into the battery bay at the front of the camera board. Ensure they are correctly oriented as indicated.

4. Assemble the Camera: Fold the camera case, slot in the camera board, and securely screw everything together.

Croz Vanguard/Simple Light/Disco Camera Series

Please avoid opening the case beyond a 30-degree angle.

Ensure each component is properly inserted and secured to avoid any issues during use.

Please charge your rechargeable batteries for at least 3 hours before using. After testing, we found that Energizer 700mAh and LADDA 750mAh rechargeable batteries work best with our cameras! Also, don't forget to reformat your SD card before using it!

How to use a Paper Shoot camera?

Here's how to use a Paper Shoot Camera:

1. Choose your filter: Flip the filter switch to select your desired filter. The camera offers four options: Colour, Black & White, Sepia, and Blue. Ensure the switch corresponds to the filter options printed on the back of the case.

2. Snap your photo: Press the shutter button located at the front of the camera. You'll notice a small cut-out flap that you can press to activate the shutter.

 

3. Hold and wait!: Count slowly from 1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi, 3... or until you hear the "kacha" sound.

How to take 10s Video and Time-lapse?

To capture a 10-second video on your Paper Shoot Camera, follow these steps:

1. Connect the camera to a power supply, such as a power bank, using the provided USB cable.
2. Toggle the filter view to the 4th setting to switch the mode from photo to video.

3. Press the button on the front of the camera to start recording your video. The recording will last for 10 seconds.

For using the time-lapse feature:

1. Connect the camera to a power source using the USB cable.
2. Toggle the filter view to the 3rd setting to switch to time-lapse mode.

3. Press the button on the front of the camera to begin recording your time-lapse video.
4. To stop your time-lapse recording, simply press the button on the front of the camera again. If you don't stop it manually, the recording will continue until it drains your batteries completely.

How to use time-sync?

Windows PC

Are you using a Paper Shoot camera with a Windows PC and want to ensure your photo timestamps are accurate? Follow these simple steps to synchronize the time on your camera effortlessly:

1. Download the Windows TimeSync App: Head to the download link provided and install the Windows TimeSync app on your computer.
2. Prepare Your Camera: Ensure that the SD card is properly inserted into your Paper Shoot camera.
3. Connect Your Camera: Connect your Paper Shoot camera to a USB port on your Windows PC using a USB cable.

4. Run the TimeSync App: Locate the "PaperShootTimeSync_win.exe" file you downloaded and click on it to initiate the time update process. If prompted with a security warning, select "more info" and then "run anyway" to proceed.

5. Complete the Time Sync: Once the app is running, you'll see a message instructing you to "Press any key to continue . . ." Follow the prompt, and the window will automatically close once the time synchronization is complete.
6. Check Your Photos: After completing the time sync, disconnect the USB cable from your camera and take a few photos as usual. Reconnect the camera to your PC and verify that the timestamps on your photo files are correct.

Note: If your camera's battery runs out, you can replace or recharge it within a day without losing the correct date and time settings.

Mac OS

Are you using a Paper Shoot camera with a Mac and need to ensure your photo timestamps are accurate? Follow these straightforward steps to synchronize the time on your camera seamlessly:

Download the PstTimeSync App: Visit the provided download link and install the PstTimeSync app on your Mac.

Mac OS Time Sync File

Prepare Your Camera: Remove the SD card from your Paper Shoot camera.

Connect Your Camera: Connect your Paper Shoot camera to your Mac using a USB cable. Depending on your Mac model, you may need a USB adapter.

Run the Time Sync App: Locate the "PstTimeSync.dmg" file you downloaded and click on it to initiate the time update process. The sync will start automatically, and once it's complete, you'll see a message indicating "Time Sync successfully" within the pop-up window.

 

Confirmation: Please ensure that the information displayed on the screen confirms that the process is complete.

Check Your Photos: After completing the time sync, insert the SD card back into your camera, take a photo, and reconnect your camera to your Mac. Verify that the time and date on the photo file are correct.

If you're encountering any issues with your Paper Shoot Camera, fret not!

Here's a step-by-step guide to help you check your camera:

Let's start by examining the camera board:

  1. Remove the batteries while keeping the SD card in the camera board.
  2. Connect the camera to a power bank using the provided cable, avoiding connection to a PC or laptop.
  3. Ensure the filter switch is set to the first mode, then press the shutter button.

If you hear a capture sound, the camera board is functioning correctly.

Now, let's assess other aspects of the camera:

  1. Are you using our recommended rechargeable batteries? We suggest Energizer 700mAh or LADDA 750mAh rechargeable batteries.
  2. Have you fully charged your batteries? Charging is complete when the green light indicator turns off after connecting the board to a power source. We advise charging for at least 3 hours or overnight. You can charge the batteries in-camera using the provided USB cable.
  3. Are you using a standard size SD card or microSD with a standard size adapter? Only a standard SD size is compatible with our camera. Avoid inserting a microSD card directly into the camera.
  4. Is the SD card in the larger front silver slot, non-WiFi, and not larger than 32GB? Insert the SD card into the big silver slot at the front of the camera board. We recommend a maximum 32GB SD card, which
    can store up to 12,000 photos.
  5. Have you reformatted your SD card? If not, it's advisable to do so for optimal performance. You can refer to our reformatting guide here!

How to reformat your SD card

Formatting your SD card is essential for maintaining its performance and compatibility with your devices.

In this guide, we'll walk you through the process of formatting your SD card on both Windows and Mac operating systems.

Back Up Your Data Before proceeding with the formatting process, it's crucial to save and back up all your photos and files. Formatting will erase all data on the SD card, so make sure you have copies of any important files stored elsewhere.

Formatting for Windows (FAT32)

If you're using a Windows computer, follow these steps to format your SD card to the FAT32 file system:

Insert the SD card into your computer's card reader or SD card slot.

Open File Explorer and locate the SD card under "This PC" or "My Computer."

Right-click on the SD card and select "Format."

In the Format window, choose "FAT32" from the File System drop-down menu.

Optionally, you can enter a Volume Label for the SD card.

Click "Start" to begin the formatting process. A warning message may
appear, confirming that all data on the card will be erased. Click "OK"
to proceed.

Once the formatting is complete, click "OK" to close the Format Complete window.

Formatting for Mac OS (MS-DOS FAT)

For Mac users, follow these steps to format your SD card to the MS-DOS FAT file system:

Insert the SD card into your Mac's card reader or SD card slot.

Open Disk Utility. You can find it by searching for it in Spotlight
or navigating to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.

In Disk Utility, select the SD card from the list of drives on the left-hand side.

Click on the "Erase" tab.

From the Format drop-down menu, choose "MS-DOS (FAT)."

Optionally, you can enter a name for the SD card in the Name field.

Click "Erase" to begin the formatting process. A warning message may
appear, confirming that all data on the card will be erased. Click "Erase" again to confirm.

Once the formatting is complete, close Disk Utility.

By following these simple steps, you can format your SD card to the appropriate file system for your operating system. Remember to back up

To make the review/exchange & return process as smooth as possible, we offer three convenient options:

1. Schedule an Office Visit:
If you prefer a face-to-face interaction, you're welcome to visit our office for a review/exchange. Just remember to schedule an appointment
beforehand. Our office hours are typically weekdays, subject to staff availability. Do arrange a date and time with us through Instagram DM.

2. Drop-Off at Your Convenience:
For added convenience, feel free to drop off your camera board in our designated exchange/return drop-off box (say hi to Billy!! Yes, we named the box...) located outside our office (see photo of Billy below and also Gigi the cctv :p). This option allows you to submit your item at any time that suits you.

Simply complete the Exchange/Return slip, seal it along with
the camera board in the provided polymailer, and then drop it into the box.

Please keep in mind that the review process may take up to 7 working days. Once completed, we'll ensure the item is safely returned to you
via delivery.

3. Mail-In Option:
Alternatively, you can choose to mail the item to our office at your own expense. Don't forget to include a tracking link/number for added security. However, please note that we cannot accept responsibility for
parcels lost in transit without a tracking number.

Software/Hand Crank Upgrade for 18MP Camera

Windows

Step 1: Format Your SD Card

  1. Insert the SD card into your computer's card reader or SD card slot.
  2. Open File Explorer and locate the SD card under "This PC" or "My Computer."
  3. Right-click on the SD card and select "Format."
  4. In the Format window, select "FAT32" from the File System drop-down menu.
  5. Optionally, enter a Volume Label for the SD card.
  6. Click "Start" to begin the formatting process. You will see a warning message confirming that all data on the card will be erased; click "OK" to proceed.
  7. Once the formatting is complete, click "OK" to close the Format Complete window.

Step 2: Download the Software Upgrade File

Step 3: Save the Upgrade File to the SD Card

  • Save the file named FW96565A.bin directly onto the SD card.

Step 4: Insert the SD Card into the Camera

  • Insert the formatted SD card containing the upgrade file into the camera.

Step 5: Power the Camera

  • Plug the camera into a power source, such as a wall plug. Avoid using a computer or laptop as the power source.

Step 6: Update the Camera

  • Wait for the camera's indicator light to flash and then remain steady, which takes approximately 1-3 minutes. Please be patient.

Step 7: Clean Up the SD Card

  • After the update is completed, remove the SD card using a card reader and delete all files from it. Ensure that the SD card is completely empty. If any files remain, repeat Step 5.

MacOS

Step 1: Format Your SD Card on macOS

  1. Insert the SD card into your Mac's card reader or SD card slot.
  2. Open Disk Utility. You can find it by searching in Spotlight or navigating to Applications > Utilities > Disk Utility.
  3. In Disk Utility, select the SD card from the list of drives on the left-hand side.
